On the afternoon of September 10, Wenzhou Business College held a symposium to celebrate the 40th Teachers' Day. Zhou Xiangzhe, Secretary of the Party Committee, expressed his earnest hope that all faculty members would vigorously promote the spirit of educators, embody the spirit of evaluation and construction, and courageously shoulder their sacred responsibilities and missions, contributing to the new stage of high-quality development of the university. The meeting was chaired by Tang Ruo, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, with Vice Presidents Bai Yan, Hu Jiang, Xia Weidong, along with heads of relevant departments, college representatives, and faculty members in attendance.
The meeting began by presenting commemorative gifts and tokens of appreciation to faculty members who have been with the university for 15 and 20 years, respectively. Zhou Xiangzhe, on behalf of the Board of Directors and university leadership, extended his highest respect and holiday greetings to all faculty members, thanking them for their dedicated work on the frontlines of education and warmly welcoming the newly hired teachers.
Centered around the theme of Teachers' Day 2024, Zhou Xiangzhe presented three key points on how to promote the spirit of educators and accelerate the high-quality development of the university in the new semester:
1.A strong university requires strong teachers. Following the successful undergraduate teaching evaluation, the university has entered a new phase of high-quality development, facing three major challenges, the greatest of which is the development of its teaching staff. Teachers are the backbone of the university, and strengthening the institution requires building a high-quality, professional teaching team.
2.A strong teaching staff requires strong ethics. All faculty members should uphold the spirit of educators and embody the principles of "Integrity, Discipline, and Diligence" from the evaluation and construction period. They should act according to their roles, remembering that the core of teaching ethics is love for students, and deeply practicing the educational philosophy of "optimal service to students."
3.A strong teaching staff requires respect. It is crucial to thoroughly implement the spirit of the National Education Conference and strive to create a social atmosphere that values education and respects teachers, making teaching a revered profession. Teachers, in turn, should be self-respecting, self-disciplined, and self-reliant, aspiring to be "great teachers" with noble character.
During the discussion, faculty members shared their thoughts openly. Some reflected on their teaching experiences and practical insights, while others passionately discussed their future plans or fondly recalled their unforgettable journey of growth alongside the university. They unanimously agreed that personal growth as educators is closely tied to the development of the university. Moving forward, they will continue to invest in their careers and nurture their love for students, adhering to the principle of "all for the students, for every student, and for every aspect of the students," contributing to the new chapter of Wenzhou Business College’s high-quality development.
In celebration of Teachers' Day, the university also organized a series of orientation activities for newly recruited foreign faculty and high-level talents. They visited the Entrepreneurship Education Center and the Caring Education Center to help them familiarize themselves with the university's "Two Worlds, Two Campuses" cultural brand, gain a better understanding of the university’s history and campus culture, and integrate into the campus community as soon as possible.
President Zhao Bo and other university leaders attended the related events, listening to the thoughts of the newly hired teachers and extending their warm Teachers' Day wishes. The faculty members enthusiastically discussed their work plans, shared their educational philosophies, and expressed their eager anticipation and aspirations for their future work.
Wishing all teachers a Happy Teachers' Day!
