Mr. Ye Xiaopeng was Honored as “Master of Chinese Arts and Crafts”

On August 5, China Light Industry Federation announced 108 Masters of Chinese Arts and Crafts during the 8th selection, and Mr. Ye Xiaopeng, a famous boxwood wood carving artist and a high-level arts and crafts teacher of School of Media and Design Arts, was on the list.

Master of Chinese Arts and Crafts is the highest honor of China’s arts and crafts industry, which is a typical representative of the practitioners of arts and crafts. So far, 640 masters have been selected every four years since 1979.

Ye Xiaopeng is the main inheritor of Ye’s boxwood woodcarving sixth generation, who is now teaching in Product and Arts and Crafts Department of School of Media and Design Art, and has set up a woodcarving studio in the school, cultivating talents with both modern fashion design concepts and marketing awareness.

Ye Xiaopeng also serves as the vice president of Wenzhou Arts and Crafts Research Institute and president of Yongjia County Arts and Crafts Industry Association. He participated in the construction of Yongjia Arts and Crafts Industrial Park, in order to help Wenzhou build arts and crafts brand. He was awarded as many titles, such as “Zhejiang’s Arts and Crafts Master”, “Zhejiang’s Traditional Arts and Crafts Leader”, “Wenzhou’s Outstanding Talent”, and “Wenzhou’s 5th Batch of Representative Inheritor of Intangible Cultural Heritage”.
