Entrepreneurship Education Hall will be opened soon. On August 13, Lin Dong, the chairman and engineer of Hangzhou Lin Dong New Energy Science and Technology Co. Ltd., donated two treasures—the model of the world's first tidal energy power station and the first meter of the world's first tidal energy power station. Zhou Xiangzhe, Executive President and Secretary of the Party Committee, and Hu Jiang, assistant to the President, traveled to Hangzhou to attend the donation ceremony.
On Saturday, Lin Dong and Vice Presidents Zhu Fuwei, Jiang Fang and Chen Li gave up their rest to give a warm welcome to Zhou Xiangzhe and accompanied them to visit LHD’s R&D headquarter of tidal energy located in Binjiang District, and then held a simple but grand ceremony of exhibits donation.
According to the introduction, the first meter of the world's first tidal power station was found by Lindong’s team. The meter is an important equipment for monitoring the ocean tidal flow direction and velocity, following the project team in the south since July 27, 2016. It provides valuable tidal data, helps the unit to automatically start, stop and generate power accordingly, and realizes all-time unattended operation. The meter has gone through the research and development of four generations of units in LHD project and has been successfully launched into the sea for power generation, and the tidal data provided by the meter has become a valuable asset in the history of China’s research and development of tidal power generation. In addition, Lin Dong also donated a model of the world's first tidal power plant to the Entrepreneurship Education Hall of the university.
Zhou Xiangzhe expressed his gratitude to Lin Dong for donating the valuable exhibits and introduced Entrepreneurship Education Hall. He said that WZBC has always insisted on the characteristic of entrepreneurship education, and has carried out entrepreneurship education throughout the whole process of talent cultivation. The Entrepreneurship Education Hall, which is currently under construction, mainly displays the contents of entrepreneurship education and integrates the university history and the history of entrepreneurship in Wenzhou, aiming at creating the entrepreneurial culture of Wenzhou business and forming a distinctive entrepreneurship education base. WZBC will properly store and effectively exhibit the gifted treasures to trigger inspiration and education to the new generation of entrepreneurs and let them realize value.
Lin Dong said that it is very meaningful for WZBC to prepare for the establishment of the Entrepreneurship Education Hall, and he hoped that the donated exhibits can inspire the young students who are interested in entrepreneurship to be brave in scientific and technological innovation, make contributions to strengthen the country through scientific and technological researches, and strive to be entrepreneurs with the spirit of scientists. He also enthusiastically put forward relevant suggestions for the preparation and construction of the Entrepreneurship Education Hall.
Lin Dong is a well-known entrepreneur from Wenzhou, founded Hangzhou Lvsheng Food Co., Ltd. in 1993, returned from overseas study and invested in research and development of tidal energy power generation projects. Since 2009, it has taken 8 years to develop the world's first 3.4 MW LHD Lin Dong modular large-scale ocean tidal energy power set “Qiaolian”, Which is recognized by the authority as the world’s first ocean tidal energy power station. In 2020, CCTV broadcast the 70th anniversary of the founding of China, a large-scale commemorative drama Endeavour Melody, which is based on the real story of Lin Dong, vividly interpreted the new era of Wenzhou people’s spirit of “dare to be the first” .
Lin Dong’s spirit of daring to break through and create as well as the path of entrepreneurship and innovation are highly compatible with the talent cultivation goals of WZBC, and his early years of entrepreneurial experience also has many similarities with many entrepreneurial students in our university. In June this year, when he was invited to attend the graduation ceremony of the 2022 session of the university, he learned that the university was preparing to build an entrepreneurship hall, and he gladly agreed to donate exhibits to the hall.
